The guy I flew with also lost an engine one night after I was gone and put that same 18 down in a field in Ontario, Canada. No damage. I love the 18. It's a workhorse. We flew auto factory parts in/out of Flint. All those vivid memories of Apollo/Skylab/ASTP came rushing back, particularly when Orion was shown dropping like a rock by Ikhana...then those gorgeous 'chutes. Orion truly IS America's new spacecraft. I hope the National purse strings are loosened enough to make EM-1 a reality...and EM-2...and everything else to follow! Ralph's funeral was well attended yesterday by both the Great Lakes and Aviation communities as well as family. It was a real celebration of his life. He did read each and every one of your books and often told me how much he enjoyed them and how well written they were. He looked forward to each one. Ralph's passing has left a huge void in the Great Lakes community and while I doubt any one person could fill that void, we need to keep the journey he started some 60 years ago going. Rest assured, his collection will remain intact and well care for as a tribute to his memory. He touched a lot of lives and inspired countless future historians. He was a unique individual who will be greatly missed but never forgotten.Chris Rottiersnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7722716643991015737.post-58767699582917743992013-10-26T05:01:08.111-04:002013-10-26T05:01:08.111-04:00Your fascination for these birds are amazing to re...Your fascination for these birds are amazing to read about.
